About

Practical China travel, without the guesswork.

TravelPrep is an independent guide for international visitors planning a trip to mainland China. It focuses on the practical questions that decide a trip: whether you can enter, how to pay, how to stay connected, how to move between cities and what to do when a booking fails.

The city guides use the same structure so you can compare destinations on the things that matter: realistic stay length, booking rules, transport, food and where to base yourself. We link the responsible authority or venue rather than asking you to trust a summary.

How the guides are written

  • Official sources first: entry rules, holiday dates, rail terms and major attractions link to the authority or venue responsible.
  • Reviewed on a date: every guide shows when it was checked. We change that date only after rechecking the volatile facts and links.
  • Conditions, not promises: visa-free lists, app support and ticket rules change. We explain the condition and the fallback rather than promising that something always works.

What we do not do

We do not sell tickets, make visa decisions or replace the border officer, airline, insurer or venue. We do not publish fixed prices or opening hours when we cannot verify them; where a detail changes often, we link the official page instead.

TravelPrep is an independent content service. Some booking links may earn a commission at no additional cost to you; those links are labelled and do not change the editorial recommendation.

Start with the essentials

Entry, payments, mobile data, trains and hotels are covered in the travel essentials hub. The destination guides then put those decisions into a city-by-city plan.
